Core Supports provide assistance with everyday activities, addressing your current disability-related needs, and helping you progress towards your goals. Your Core Supports budget is highly flexible, allowing you to allocate funds across four main support categories. However, there are exceptions where funding flexibility may be limited, particularly concerning transport.

Below is a breakdown of the Core Supports categories and their descriptions as outlined in the myplace portal:

Assistance with Daily Life (Daily Activities): This category covers support for your daily needs, including household tasks and yard maintenance, aimed at promoting independence and facilitating everyday activities.

1. Consumables: This includes essential items you may require on a regular basis, such as continence products or low-cost assistive technology and equipment, aiding in your independence and mobility enhancement.
2. Assistance with Social & Community Participation (Social, community, and civic participation): Support under this category enables your involvement in social and community activities, with the assistance of a support worker if necessary, fostering social inclusion and community engagement.
3. Transport: This support facilitates your travel to work or other destinations crucial for pursuing your plan’s goals. The allocation and disbursement method for transport funding vary for each individual, with your Local Area Coordinator (LAC) providing guidance on its utilization.

Understanding how to utilize your transport funding and its payment method (whether upfront or in regular installments) will be explained by your LAC, tailored to your specific circumstances and needs.
